How do I switch my driver's license?

To switch your foreign driver’s license to a Singapore license, you’ll need to pass the Basic Theory Test (BTT), then complete the online pre-assessment to secure an appointment at the Traffic Police Headquarters. Bring your original documents along with photocopies to the appointment, pay the $50 conversion fee, and your application will be processed.

1

Pass the Basic Theory Test (BTT)

  • You must pass the BTT in Singapore; overseas theory test results are not accepted.

  • Register and book a BTT session at any of the three driving schools.

2

Complete the online Pre-Assessment

  • Go to the FormSG link to start the pre-assessment.

  • You will receive a link to book an appointment via email after submitting the form.

3

Prepare your Documents

  • Original and a photocopy of your valid foreign driving license.

  • Original and a photocopy of your passport and NRIC, or relevant passes (Employment Pass, Work Permit, etc.).

  • Proof of a minimum 6-month stay within a 12-month period in the country where the foreign license was issued. This is required for Singaporeans and those who obtained their foreign license after their PR status or first pass was issued.

  • Your BTT result slip.

4

Attend Your Appointment

  • Go to the Traffic Police Headquarters at 10 Ubi Avenue 3 at your booked time.

  • Bring all the documents you prepared in Step 3.

  • Walk-ins are not entertained, and your application will be assessed on the spot for eligibility.

5

Pay the conversion fee

  • The conversion fee is $50.

  • Payment is accepted via Cashcard, NETS, credit card, debit card, or SGQR at the Traffic Police counters.
