The main scope refers to the two businesses that account for the highest percentage of revenue amongst the company’s various businesses. Companies are permitted to partake in businesses that are not listed in the main scope of business.

There are 2 main scopes of business that can be registered on the company registration document.

**If you are dealing with restricted industries or products, you need to apply to the relevant government departments and obtain a licence. For example, food, restaurants, medical products, tobacco, alcohol, automobiles, etc.. If there is a change in the main source of income after further development of the company, then the main scope of business can be changed through the action of the statutory secretary.

Where can I choose the Main Scope of Business

The company needs to choose its main scope of business from the Singapore Standard Industrial Classification Code (SSIC CODE). It should have at least one main scope of business at the time of incorporation.

What if I cannot find a Main Scope of Business that suits my company?

If you cannot find a code that fits your company’s business description in the Singapore Standard Industrial Classification (SICS), then select the best fit.  You can further specify your business content in the section titled, “Main Scope of Business Description”.  Should you need to change the business scope of your company, please contact us promptly to explain the reason for the change. We will then arrange for our secretary to submit your application.
